US Healthcare Groups Release Supply Chain Recommendations For Policymakers

US healthcare groups along with American Medical Association and US Pharmacopeia have released advisory to Policymakers to address supply chain challenges in the US drug marketplace. The report named “Improving the Quality and Resilience of the United States Health Care Supply Chain” was released by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), Association for Clinical Oncology (ASCO), American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), and American Medical Association (AMA).

The report provides solutions regarding supply access and quality issues facing by the supply chain industry amidst covid-19. The solutions that can be integrated to address supply chain issues in the pharmaceutical marketplace have been provided through the report. The solutions or strategies that must be integrated by the Policymakers to ensure safe, consistent, and quality supply of drugs and other medicines are stated in the report.

The groups in the report have stated that the supply chain companies need to implement certain legislative and regulatory actions including integration of advanced manufacturing technology for developing critical drugs and active pharmaceutical ingredients, improving accessibility to  US Strategic National Stockpile during emergencies, improving collaboration with foreign drug supply chain partners, enhancing the drug and device manufacturing quality.

The solutions that can be integrated to address supply chain issues in the pharmaceutical marketplace have been provided through the report. The solutions or strategies that must be integrated by the Policymakers to ensure safe, consistent, and quality supply of drugs and other medicines are stated in the report.
